tummy time!

So I've always been nervous about Owen's strength because I'm a horrible mother and don't do much tummy time. He sleeps on his back, so turning on his tummy makes him QUITE unhappy. I usually got about 2 minutes out of him when I began, and I eventually gave up a couple months ago. Yesterday, Nathan and I decided to put him on his tummy for the heck of it. To our surprise, he put his head up as far as it could go with ease! I've had him in the bumbo lately, so I guess that has helped. We got excited about it today and did it again, and he rolled over! I couldnt believe it! I thought he wouldnt be doing that for a while, but he did it twice in a roll! What a strong boy! He's so much fun! (video at bottom)

Along those lines, here is a quick video specifically for Aunt Sissy. Its at the bottom of the blog, and I just realized I videoed it sideways. So... its completely boring and silent because I didnt want to interrupt him, but its the first time he's made such good hand-eye coordination! My sister (Aunt Sissy) works with deaf and hard of hearing babies from 0-3 years. She is quite encouraging about stimulating Owen, since she knows that he begins learning language and different skills at birth. So, Aunt Sissy, here is Owen in his baby einstein entertainer, being quite stimulated! He's gonna be a genius! heres a pic too- he was zoned in on the spinny frog!

oh, and this is a pic nathan got while i was gone. owen often spits out his pacifier and it just flies across the room. well this time it shot straight up and landed on his eye! ha.

ok, for all you nursing mothers out there, i have a question... ive been nursing owen since birth and he's a champion eater. he sleeps well too- by 14 weeks he was sleeping from 10-7. hoooowever, after going to texas, he hasnt been sleeping through the night at all. i think my milk production slowed down for a bit, which caused him to wake up around 4am to eat. i fed him, cause i felt bad about my milk, and he would go back to sleep until 7 or 8. SO, thats the new routine and i cant get him out of it! he still naps and eats on good schedule during the day. i might just try to keep him awake more... i dunno! let me know if you have the secret answer.

this entire blog was about owen.. im officially an obsessed mother. :) i dont mind.

  2. I feel like a bad mommy too, we hardly do belly time with Avery and at her sitters she gets maybe 20 minutes a day. She just screams and Evan and I hate hearing her upset so we don't put her through that!

haha, we need to gain some more back bone.

Again, Owen is too cute! It looked like he was just as amazed as you were that he rolled over, haha. Next up, he'll be doing circles in his crib at night.

  5. Ok...so when sweet Owen wakes up at four to eat, does he actually eat or use you as a pacifier to get back to sleep? Logan used to do that too. He would only nurse a couple of minutes and he would be OUT! I realized he was just using me! HA! I just made him cry it out a few nights :(

Ya for tummy time and sitting up time! Logan almost had to wear a helmet because his flat spot was so bad..oops!
